About CPR & Life Support
Why knowing CPR saves lives
What is CPR?
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest.
🧢 Why CPR Matters
Each year, nearly 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur in the US. When a bystander performs CPR, it can double or triple survival chances.
⏳ Time is Critical
For every minute without CPR, survival rates drop by 7–10%. Brain damage begins within 4–6 minutes. Quick action saves lives.
📚 Who Should Learn
Everyone! Healthcare workers, teachers, parents, coaches — cardiac arrest can happen anywhere. Being prepared makes you a life-saver.
Hands-Only CPR Steps
Or have someone call while you begin CPR.
Place heel of hand on center of chest.
Push hard & fast – at least 2 inches deep.
100–120 compressions per minute until help arrives.
